Supporting Your Pet's Reproductive Health: Fertility & Infertility Examinations

At Newport Harbor Animal Hospital, we understand that navigating your pet's reproductive health, whether for breeding or addressing concerns about infertility, can be a complex journey. Dr. Sebzda and oFertility exam with ultrasoundur compassionate team are here to provide thorough and personalized care every step of the way.

When you bring your beloved pet in for a fertility examination, we'll begin by taking a comprehensive history. This helps us understand your pet's background, current medications or supplements, and any specific concerns you've observed.

Next, Dr. Sebzda will perform a general wellness check. This crucial step allows her to identify any underlying health issues—such as thyroid disease, immune disorders, or infections—that could potentially impact fertility. She will also conduct a detailed examination of your pet's reproductive anatomy.

With all this information in hand, Dr. Sebzda will create a customized plan specifically tailored to your pet's unique needs. As a standard part of our reproductive health protocols, and for the safety of both your pet and our kennel environment, every pet will be screened for Brucella canis.

Depending on your pet's sex, specific diagnostics may be recommended:

  • For male pets, a semen evaluation may be performed.
  • For female pets, a vaginal cytology and/or hormone testing may be recommended to provide further insights.

Our goal is to provide you with clear answers and a supportive path forward, helping you make informed decisions about your pet's reproductive well-being.

Dr. Mary Sebzda is a board-certified Theriogenologist.

This means she has advanced, specialist training in animal reproduction! When you schedule an examination with Dr. Sebzda for any fertility or reproductive issue, she will start by talking with you about any concerns you have for your pet and your future reproductive plans. Then, she will do a thorough examination of your pet and formulate the best plan to fit the needs of your pet and you.
