Raised in upstate New York, Dr. Tom Carpenter received his DVM degree from Iowa State University in 1980. He began his veterinary practice in Morgan Hill California prior to coming to Newport Harbor in 1985. Dr. Carpenter's chief interests include Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Veterinary business management. Dr. Carpenter served as the President of The American Animal Hospital Association in 2007-8. He has served AAHA in many capacities over the last two decades.

Dr. Carpenter is a clinical professor for The Western University College of Veterinary Medicine. NHAH serves as a clinical teaching site for their students. These students are exceptional and the teaching environment is stimulating to our entire staff.

Dr. Carpenter is married with two sons and enjoys playing golf and running. His proudest athletic accomplishments include running more than fifty marathons, participating in the Boston Marathon four times and completing five Ultra Marathons.
