From the time I was two years old and my parents plunked me on the back of a pony at a local fair, I began my love affair with animals. I have had my share of pets, both small and large, and grew up with several horses, competing in hunter/jumper events up through college. I've worked in several different settings from a world renowned equine hospital in Kentucky, to a large oncology practice here in southern California. Our home was always filled with animals and my deep affection and love developed over the years. I always knew I would be a veterinarian - it has been a long road, but one well-traveled and worth the trip.
I was born and raised in Irvine, California, and I received my Bachelor of Science degree from California State University - Fullerton. In addition to my DVM from Western University - College of Veterinary Medicine, I am completing a Masters' degree in Public Health from the University of Minnesota because I believe that the health of the human being is closely intertwined with the health of animals.
I have a great husband and a wonderful young daughter, and we share our home with our two zany English pointers. In my spare time, I am an avid gardener, enjoy horseback riding, all things Tolkien, and the great outdoors. You might see us out walking at the Back Bay, but I am quite a Yosemite nut and we take every opportunity to camp there and at the nearby Sierra Nevada range.
I am very excited to join the wonderful staff at Newport Harbor Animal Hospital, as I feel it epitomizes the standard of excellence in animal health care that our animal companions so deserve. I hope to further my own education by becoming certified in acupuncture, and begin offering our clients an array of sports medicine knowledge that will benefit our active and aging four-legged friends.
